What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

So what do you want to be when you grow up? You probably hear this question a lot, no doubt often from older people who don't know what else to ask a teen. Chances are you've thought about it at least a little. What's up for you after high school? College? What kind of career do you hope to pursue?

I have a very nice life. My parents are together. There is no abuse. I have a lot going for me. But I have thought about suicide many times. I think I need help, but those who want to help can't and those who can don't. How can God help me see that I am special?

We're so sorry to hear that you're struggling with thoughts of suicide. It sounds like you're having some trouble connecting with people who can and will help you, so we're really glad that you're still trying.
Throughout my high school years, I've been tested and toyed with by Satan. My sophomore year my father died of cancer. As a result I started to party and involve myself in activities that were far from Christian approval. Now that I've finally graduated as salutatorian of my high school, I realize that I am full of sin. I have asked the Lord to cleanse me of my sins every day. However, I do not feel resolved of my sins. How do I know that He has forgiven me for the past three years?
How should I go about telling about God's word to people I don't know very well? And what is the most effective way?

Sharing God's truth with people can be intimidating, especially people you don't know very well. And it's almost impossible to say that one method is the most effective. But your desire to share your faith is really great. Many Christians don't have boldness in their witness for Christ, and you're taking the first step toward spiritual growth by wanting to share your faith. The Bible teaches us that true believers want to share with others what God has done for them (read John 4:28-30, John 4:39-42 and 1 John 1:1-4).
